about

These pieces are imbued with loneliness and apartness, solitude and loss. The impetus for this music was composing the scores for a trio of films for an exhibition called "We're Still Here" at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History about the isolation of seniors in that area, films made by Mara Milam and choreographer Cid Pearlman, whom I have been composing for over the past 25 years or so! The final scores were not these pieces (except for 'Desiderium', which was used for one of the films), so go see the exhibit if you can!

Concurrent with the composing of this music, I was reading the book "Ethical Loneliness: the injustice of not being heard" by Jill Stauffer, which raised numerous levels of awareness in me about the ethics involved in being abandoned by humanity.

The result is heavy, long and dark. And hopefully beautiful. The music made me feel. I hope it does for you as well.

New addition, a "b-side" perhaps, "Tiny Dance" was made as the soundtrack to a 10-minute cut of this same footage for film festival submission.
